In July 2017, Samsung Electronics overtook Intel as the largest semiconductor chip maker in the world. Samsung Electronics is the world’s second largest technology company by revenue.In 2012, Kwon Oh-hyun was appointed the company’s CEO but announced in October 2017 that he would resign in March 2018, citing an “unprecedented crisis”. From March 2018 on, the company maintains a 3-CEO layout with Ki Nam Kim, Hyun Suk Kim, and Dong Jin Koh. It also has a separate CEO for Southeast Asia from 2015, HC Hong.
